Hello, and let me introduce myself! My name is Fredrik Nyström, and I am a professor and doctor. I have treated patients with various problems related to obesity and lifestyle for several decades. In parallel, I have conducted research on these same themes.
My new perspectives on a healthy lifestyle began with a trial on the effects of consuming excessive fast food and neglecting exercise for 4 weeks. This set up was a copy of Morgan Spurlock's documentary “Super Size Me”. In this book I try to communicate what I have since figured out over these decades of medical science and clinic work with patients.
The book is rooted in my belief that it is very important to allow oneself to some pleasure in this world, to really achieve a healthy lifestyle. These principles include that it is perfectly okay not to be so darn lean (and hungry). It is usually better to be overweight than to be too thin. I also think it is permissible, and even useful, to drink red wine every day with meals; that’s the Mediterranean style! And yes, you absolutely must not exercise just because others tell you so! Finally, I also think, based on my own recent studies, that nicotine works great in many subjects to keep up the spirit, focus, and metabolism, the important thing is that you don't smoke it.
Read this book and lighten the load on your shoulders to get more content with yourself and then to become ready for a longer and more fulfilling life.
